We ended up walking about 2 miles, all told. We met up with her mom and we had a cute little posse of chatty women out for a stroll. Her mom only walked for about 1 mile with us before calling it, which is totally fine. We did that in about 24 minutes and 24 minutes for the second mile. The last one, we jogged up a steep hill (the first go-round the blocks, we walked down it). We were winded and a bit sweaty by the time we made it back to the apartment. Since my roomie encouraged me to jog, I told her she had to do squats (five squats twice), planks (15 seconds twice), and sit-ups/crunches (15 twice) with me.
My roomie then declared herself evil and wanted to repent of her vile and cruel ways.
I accepted her repentance but we still did the sets. They took about ten minutes. She wanted me to do bicycle crunches, which I've not mastered ever (my coordination is horrible!). I stuck to my regular crunches and I'm glad I did . . . 8 hours later and I can feel my muscles every time I pull this way and that way. It's a good pull, not a sore pull. We'll see how she's feeling when I get home and she's had a full night's sleep.
I've decided we're going to stick with this routine, now that spring has graced our side of the country with it's glorious days. We'll go everyday, rain or shine:
- 6:00 PM -- roomie comes home; dinner or a snack for my roomie
- 6:30 PM -- stretched, dressed, watered, and ready to go walking/jogging
- 7:30 PM -- walk is over, start strength training exercises
- 7:45 PM -- "breakfast" for me; shower and get ready for work
- 8:45 PM -- leave for work; roomie is off to bed
I'm hoping I'll be able to upload videos before, during or after walks.
Cheers!
